Kyocera PR1725 PR1705 PVD Coated Inserts for Steel

Engineered by Kyocera Corporation, the Kyocera PR1725 PR1705 PVD coated carbide inserts deliver excellent surface finish and long tool life for small parts machining applications. Featuring the newly developed MEGACOAT NANO PLUS PVD coating technology, these inserts provide superior wear and chipping resistance, effectively solving customer challenges such as surface tearing, high tooling costs, and edge degradation across steel, stainless steel, and free-cutting steel.

Advanced Coating Technology in Kyocera PR1725 PR1705

The MEGACOAT NANO PLUS coating utilizes an AlTiN/AlCrN nano-laminated film structure that significantly enhances wear resistance and adhesion resistance. By increasing the lamination layers with thinner gaps, it prevents crack propagation and abnormal damages such as chipping. The coating incorporates a high-lubricity surface layer to eliminate material adhesion and surface tearing, a high-aluminum AlTiN layer for extreme hardness and oxidation resistance, an optimized AlCrN layer for wear control, and a tough micro-grain carbide substrate for high stability.

Grade Features and Application Lineup

The insert series supports diverse machining needs with specialized chipbreakers and tailored grade characteristics:

  • Kyocera PR1725 (First Recommendation for Steel): Ideal for a wide range of steel and stainless steel machining operations, providing extended tool life and lower quality control costs.
  • PR1705 (High Precision Finishing): Specially formulated for high wear resistance and precision machining of free-cutting steel.
  • Finishing SKS Chipbreaker: Designed for low cutting resistance, smooth chip evacuation, and ultra-fine surface quality on small components.
